Sales to foreigners
The British are the leading foreign buyers in France

The British represent 60% of buyers. However, as a consequence of rising oil prices and the subsequent increases in flight costs, this figure is set to drop in 2009.

The Russians, keen on prestige real estate

The British are closely followed by Russian investors. Whereas the British concentrate their purchases in the regions of Brittany or Provence, the Russians prefer the luxury sector. Paris, ski resorts in the Alps, and the Côte d’Azur are their preferred targets.

Towns with high proportions of foreign buyers of houses or apartments
• Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferat (Alpes Maritimes)
Chamonix (Haute-Savoie)
• Villefranche-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes)
Beaulieu-sur-mer (Alpes-Maritimes)
• Gets (Haute-Savoie)
• Grimaud (Var)
