patrimoine francais

Your property may have remarkable characteristics that might interest French Heritage.

If you think so, you can contact the regional branch of the Fondation du Patrimoine, an independent, not-for-profit organisation, whose mission is to preserve and promote local heritage.
Obtaining the “Fondation du Patrimoine” label will allow you to deduct up to 50% of the amount of the work to be conducted on the building for its preservation/renovation from your total taxable income.
The members of this organisation will travel to your home and if your building (it could be a facade, a roof, etc.) sparks some interest, a record of your building will be started.
To obtain and keep the label, you will need to comply with certain rules:

  • any work must be performed according to the methods and materials used for ancient buildings
  • any work conducted must be visible to the general public, without any visiting obligation required of you
  • the label is granted for 5 years, in other words, it is up to you to conduct the work during that lapse of time and in compliance with what was initially accepted.

Non compliance with any of these obligations will mean you’ll lose the tax deduction right.
NOTE: you can download an application for the label at : www.fondationpatrimoine.com
