ChapterSelling real estate

The real estate agent

To sell/buy/rent a property, several choices are available. You can choose to sell on your own or call on a real estate agent.

In this last case, you will “mandate” this agent to find you a buyer. The mandate must be in writing and specify the terms of the agreement, i.e.: agent’s remuneration, term of the mandate, its exclusive or non-exclusive nature, etc.
If you choose an “exclusive” mandate, be careful, the agent has a monopoly on the search for your buyer.
It will of course cost you a “sales commission” calculated based on the amount of the sale, this is payable upon signature at the Notary’s office.
